Hello, I am 16years old, I had bleeding and remission approximately one year I am sick of this
I had colonoscopy but they only went through Sigma(Sorry if I spell this wrong)
I am getting one tomorrow
My symptoms are
mucus/blood which was dark red and yellow-ish fecal matter
are first they thought it was Infection then UC then Meckel's now UC again, I'm sorry nervous what are odds of me having UC I have bowel movement about 3 and rarely 4 times, on the sigmodscopy report it said there was erosion and two tiny ulcers

edit: I forgot to mention during this whole year when I had'remission'' i had bowel movement about once or maybe twice in 4-5days' Poop was hard as brick and no blood, I also took anti-biotics

The only way you'll know is through the testing.

The constipation is classic with inflammation that's low in the rectum...UC starts there and for many that's a symptom...so not a remission, just a different symptom for you.

let us know how the c-scope went.

As well...ask the doctor for rectal medications if you have inflammation.

Thank you quincy, is UC really that dangerous? I am getting illeostomy and J pouch as I cant live on diet with restrictions..
anyway i'll post colonoscopy results tomorrow

UC is a difficult illness to deal with but there are a lot of medications that are used for treatment. You don't necessarily have to restrict your diet... Let us know how it goes tomorrow

I have UC and was diagnosed with pancolitis, meaning my whole colon was involved.  I was in a severe flare (15-20+ very urgent episodes of diarrhea a day and lost a lot of weight) and I'm now in a perfect remission with absolutely no symptoms, and have been for over a year and a half.  I eat just the same as I did before diagnosis and I'm fine.  I am only using mesalamine drugs to stay in remission, which are very safe for long-term use.  Remember that the majority of people on this board are those who are having trouble managing their symptoms.  You really should see how easily-managed your UC is before you jump to surgery.

I can understand opting for surgery if you already have UC at such an early age and if you're predisposed. In other words, if others in your family have UC. However, if you aren't predisposed...

You could be flaring due to some external factor. There are many alternative treatments you can try. For example, you mentioned that you took antibiotics and that it improved your condition. You could be flaring due to a fecal imbalance. Have you tried probiotics?

With my second flare, my GI could not do a colonoscopy due to the severity of the flare. He did a partial sigmoidoscopy after giving me meds that calmed my flare down a bit. Only then could he diagnose me. I'm now in complete remission, and I have been for awhile.
