My next step in alternative treatment is to try to get the bacteria in my colon healthy. I'm ready to do whatever I need to do make this happen.
-Can you get as good of quality strains of bacteria from making certain foods as from commercial brand probiotics?
-Of the store bought brands, which ones are most supported with evidence presently? While reading this "Listen To Your Gut" book, it's apparent that putting these bacteria together will result in one becoming dominant and eating the others (if packaged this way). Also, the way that the bacteria are harvested, and if they have their food source with them are both important apparently. So... with that in mind, what are the probiotics that are recommended? In that book, only Natren probiotics were deemed as a quality product. Have new ones since become available? I have taken VSL3 DS off and on, and do believe it helped. I have not taken it with the conviction that I presently have though. That probiotic (VSL3 DS) comes in a powder form, but all strains are mixed together... something that may not be a good idea. Any thoughts?
-Have any of you personally read any good books on probiotics/and or making food that has the good bacteria in it? If so, I'd take any good suggestions you may have.
Thanks everybody.
