My 80 year old mother just came to live with us after spending 2 years in the nursing home. She has had blood in her stool and some diarrhea. After having my own bout with UC, I encouraged her to get a colonoscopy done. She was diagnosed with colitis. The biopsy came back saying Ischemia. They say she needs a MRI with a contrast dye. Doctor mentioned something about
an aneurysm.
My mom is trying to diagnosis and treat this herself. She thinks that banana, applesauce, squash and milk give her diarrhea. I started her on Fish Oil. Well she thinks it is the Fish Oil now.
She has osteoporosis and high chloesterol. She is on calcium, vitamin D, CoQ10, aspirin, simvistatin, a multivitamin with B vitamins. I just started her on probiotics.
I was wondering if she should continue with the aspirin, as it could cause more bleeding.
Anyone else have the same problem and how do you deal with it?
Thanks,
Darlene
