My Symptoms

I've started Miralax about every 2 out of 3 days because it makes it soft enough that I can pass without pain. If for whatever reason I don't take it for enough days, I'll have a "normal" BM which causes a lot of pain and that is when I see the mucus. The pain will last for hours and hours afterwards and make it hard to sit. I've also noticed that when I take the miralax, the stool comes out thinner than it would normally be which leads me to think inflammation of the rectum.

Also, recently I've started having occasional issues with diarrhea, at one point a couple weeks ago, I had it a couple times a day for 4 days straight, it also seems to be slowly happening more often, and it's not like normal diarrhea, but basically looks mud(sorry for gross specifics).

Being paranoid, I've googled my symptoms many times it seems like ulcerative proctitis could be a possibility. Another thing that makes me believe that is there's been a couple times where I was walking and suddenly felt a sharp pain in my rectum, followed by immediate pus drainage, and I figured that sounds like an ulcer?

I've been to the doctor, and he gave me some suppositories to use for 2 weeks to see if they helped, and they did help, I can take one and it will get rid of the pain and I haven't seen any blood since I started using them, but they definitely didn't fix the issue. He's since told me to see a specialist and get a colonoscopy and I have an appointment with a GI next monday.

I'm pretty stressed out that it could be something REALLY bad, like cancer, so I figured I'd post here since many of you have had this disease for years, and if you could tell me if any of you had these symptoms. Most of what I see on here is people having many, many bms a day with a lot of bloody diarrhea, which I don't have a problem with, but I've also read that UP/UC can be progressive a take a while to fully develop.

Thanks for any input and hopefully this can ease my mind a little bit.

I think your symptoms are very common of smeone with UP. I was first diagnosed with UP at 27 and I was dealing with just a bit of blood on the TP. Unfortunately it progressed to a full on case of UC over time. Since I've had UC, my symptoms have become much more apparent. When flaring, I will have many movements, urgency, blood, loose stools, cramps. Hopefully you have a mild case and it doesn't progress.

Goodluck on Monday. Did he give you steroid suppositories or canasa? I think the fact that the suppositories help shows that the inflammation is low in the rectum but the fact that they don't "fix" the problem completely may mean that it begins a bit higher up. You may need enemas or foam, they treat a larger area. Please try not to stress thinking it is cancer, everyone does this (I did) but it sounds like a case of UP.

They were hydrocortisone I think. I've also had really bad cramps a few times, and it seems like everytime I did I would have the diarrhea I mentioned in my first post.

I also hope it's just a mild case, it already affects my life in negative ways. My girlfriend and I get really disappointed when we had plans to do something but end up having to cancel because I have too much pain to walk around or even go somewhere to sit.
