New here & Dr suggested a Colonoscopy

Hello, I am new to this forum. I am starting to get frustrated :( I have been feeling sick for few years. But, this last year has been the absolute worse ever. Couldn't seem to get Dr's to listen to me. And, one Dr said you prolly have IBS watch what you eat. Sent me packing without any other explanation or offer for any type of testing. Went to another Dr & he just asked me if I was depressed. I went back to the Dr. that was asking if I was depressed. I made out a detailed list of my symptoms. He said it sounded like I had fibromyalgia. Gave me a script for pain med. My back & hips hurt so bad all the time. I pretty much gave up trying to figure out the rest, didn't have the money to hunt else where. Was without insurance. Recently got insurance. Went to a different Dr. Had all kinds of blood work drawn, testing for inflammation, arthritis, lupus, a bunches more stuff. Had ultrasound done, found out that I had a cyst on my ovary. Dr, rushed me to GYN Dr. Thinking this was my problem, having a cyst the size of a tennis ball on my ovary. Got to the GYN, he gave me another ultrasound. The cyst was a functioning cyst and had disappeared....I also had polyps on my gallbladder and was also enlarged slightly. Soo, back to the Dr. He sent me for a Hida Scan and another ultrasound. Nothing appeared on the Hida Scan, I had severe pain with the med they gave thru the IV. I felt like I was going to pass out. Went to see a surgeon. He said that since there wasn't any 'proof' of gall stones or anything else, he couldn't be 100% sure this was my problem. But, it was leading to gallbladder, since I had such bad pain with the test. He 'thought' this would fix the problem. My function was at 91%. I scheduled gallbladder surgery before Christmas & canceled it. I was afraid this isn't what I need. I continue to feel sick, I'm tired. I feel like I have the flu constantly on a daily to every other day basis. When I eat certain things, my stomach just gurggles and makes these horrible noises. If I eat greasy things, which isn't very often I get acid reflux & heartburn, and a stomach ache.

I have had a problem for a while. For me its embarresing. I have had hemmorhoids for a long time. I have tried to get rid of them with over the counter med. They have been bleeding. But, after a bowel movement I feel so sick?It just doesn't make sense to me?I thought maybe because of the pain and the bleeding?I run a fever & feel tired and sick, like I have a cold flu. And on top of all that, I feel like I am bloated and gassy & my tummy feels icky. Body aches & chills, the whole nine yards! Finally, went to the Dr. yesterday. He said the sickness and all that came with the bowel movements are not from the hemmorhoids. He thinks its from something else. He said that he wanted me to go for a colonoscopy. This is the Dr. that said I had fibromyalgia because I was hurting so bad in all the points they test for fibromyalgia. I'm not planning on going back to the Dr. that sent me for all the ultrasounds and tests and to the surgeon. I went back to him before I went for the Hida Scan, he couldn't remember what he told me. I was telling him what he told me from previous visits. And he says 'well thats not on the chart'? He would have to keep scrolling thru the computer chart and then says OH YEAH there it is!!!Just didn't feel real personable to me. I no they deal with lots of people in a day but?

Now that you have made it thru all my rambling. I am going Feb 3rd to see a GI Dr to talk to him about all this stuff and to set up a colonoscopy. I'm supposed to have my gallbladder taken out on the 8th & I just don't no if its the right decision???UGH

I'm a 33yr old mother of 2. I feel like I imagine a 90 year old might feel. I feel like my children & husband deserve much better than me :(

Get the colonoscopy, it will give you answers. I don't know about the gallbladder. My hubby had a lot of those symptoms before he had to have his removed, but the tests he had were conclusive that that's what it was. Good luck. Let us know what your colonoscopy shows.

I hope you have a good primary doctor to keep all the other one's in check... I would get a primary who specializes in internal medicine, not just a regular family doctor. It sounds like you have been through a lot. I think it would actually be a good idea to have a good therapist to talk to about everything. When you are dealing with a lot of medical issues it can take a toll on you emotionally as well.

Therapy would probably be a good idea as well. I just have those bad memories of the wrong diagnosis i was given. I no it was wrong, after going on the hormones. For almost 2 years I have been fine & until recently only taking the hormones. I am afraid if I mention being diagnosed as Bipolar, they will try to push that down my throat. I really have a hard time keeping it together, trying to be the best mother & wife I can be, while feeling like a piece of poo :(

I'm gonna visit with the GI Dr. and see what comes about with that. And will definitely talk to him about the gallbladder situation. I don't even no what questions I need to ask. I start thinking of the worse things first. I tried along time ago to have a dr look into the bleeding. They said right off the bat, it was just the hemrhoids. But, I worry about cancer.

MyUC- Thank you!My dad kept telling me I needed to see a GI, I didn't listen to him. Most of the time, he realllly doesn't no what he's talking about LOL..But, guess this time he did HAHA.

Ive been going to the Dr. trying to get someone to listen to me. Nearly impossible!!!I just thought this is how its going to be. I wish I was in my 20's again.

Altho, it makes me really wonder if the symptoms I had that caused me to get the hysterectomy was really a cyst at all?I get this awful pain once in awhile. The pain shoots thru my bottom, it hurts to pee, my stomach is bloated, it hurts to walk, abdominal area is very tender & hurts like heck. I get tired & just very ill feeling. I really regret that hysterectomy & the Dr that was handing them out like candy!! Making me think that was the best thing for me. And after the ovary was removed, I still have this happen. I have been believing for MANY years, I just started getting those painful cysts on the right ovary that he left.

I'm not sure my husband will agree with therapy. Just that bad experience I had before turns us both off to it. But, the more I think about it. I could REALLLY use someone to talk to. I have a hard time staying on a good eating plan when I get depressed about not feeling good. And, maybe find a way that I'm not in my husbands face whining and complaining about not feeling good.
