Does your colon ever just ache?

It's not a cramp like pain but rather just a low throbbing pain, sort of like how a muscle feels after working out too hard. I'm doing better Uc wise, having solid to semi solid bms again but this pain is really strange. Sometimes when I bend over, I get a sharp pain in my colon, usually on the upper left or the upper right sort of like it's being pinched.

I was just curious to see if anyone else's colon just ached with no other symptoms.

Yes, I do get that. I've been on Gabapentin for my knee, but I think it's helped overall with the gut pain too. Bleh for making you feel bleh.

I have had an ache in my colon. It's kind of scary, but I figure it's the sores inside of our colons.

Yes, I had that exact ache as well. Even when I was in somewhat of a remission and not flaring badly, I felt that pain. I hated it, and one of the first things I noticed after getting my ileostomy was that it was gone. I may have had surgical pain, but the ache in my colon that I had gotten so used to over the years had vanished and it was such a relief. No more bloating either, which I was always plagued by.

Ha! My husband even asks if my colon is hurting! Apparently I rub the area when it's bothering me. I don't even notice I'm doing it sometimes.

My colon also ached even in remission (just not as bad) letting me know that the ulcers were still there getting ready for the next flare.  Then I had the misfortune to choose  j-pouch surgery once my colon was removed.  Now I have ulcerated pouchitis, which aches as bad or worse than my U.C did.  I can't wait to have my surgery to remove this pouch and get back to an ileostomy and finally be free of the pain.

p.s.  I am now on rowasa enemas and other meds. for the pouchitis.  Never dreamed I would have to be taking all this stuff again with a j-pouch.  Just a word of warning to those of you who end of going for a pouch, of what problems you might be in for.  Pouchitis with these types of surgery is the rule, not the exception.

Sobroken; I used to do the rubbing of belly often! My husband would say the same thing, "Is your belly hurting you?" I wouldn't even notice that I was doing it, but it was from the ache. I haven't done it in a long time, but when I read your post it reminded me of that! I took Nortriptylene to reduce the inflammation, and I haven't really had it since.

I used to rub my stomach too without being aware I was doing it. Combine that with the tummy bloat I would get and I had people ask if I was pregnant! NOT a question a female wants to hear when she is not pregnant.
