DUCOLAX before colonoscopy???

Has anyone had their doctor tell them to take 2 Dulcolax laxatives two days before their 'scope ( one day before prep) ?

My new GI has and I'm a little freaked out about the reviews I've read on it. It sounds like an absolute nightmare drug!! I'll be using Pico Salax for the prep.

For my last few colonoscopies I've been told to take a couple of Ducolax pills ... before and after drinking the prep, if I'm not mistaken, But... those have been on Prep Day, not before.

I never read the reviews on it. In my 25 colonoscopies I've taken so many preps with so many different medications.... I just sigh and do it. :-/

When is your scoping scheduled?

Thanks for your reply. My scope day is Monday morning. The instructions say Ducolax on Sunday morning but i thought Saturday night would be better so not so much craziness would be going on in my bowel on Sunday. Taking Ducolax AND Pico Salax on the same day freaks me out! But I'll probably do it anyhow. Anything for a good scope..sigh

For mine I did both Miralax with Gatorade and Dulcolax. I don't remember how many. I did not have any problems, just lots of bathroom trips...

I think my prep was to take a Ducolax and start drinking the prep an hour later....... and then to take another Ducolax when the prep was done.
I figured everything was going through my system so fast it didn't matter what the facts about Ducolax were - lol!

My mom and I have both done with miralax and ducolax prep. Both us were to take one pill before starting prep and one pill after. Neither of us have had problems.

I've always taken dulcolax early in the day and the prep liquid later in the day one day before my scope.  I wish I would of taken the dulcolax 2 nights before because it was slow acting so by the time it started to kick in for me it was almost bedtime and I wanted to be cleaned out by then not just starting with the bathroom runs.

Good advice - i'm going to take the Ducolax the night before.
