Period Rant

I'm totally there with you- over the years, my periods have started to affect my UC more & more. When I was first diagnosed, my periods ddidn't seem to do much one way or the other. Now, for like a week before I get my period, I'm in the bathroom all the time, with serious cramping, urgency, etc. This is every month too! It sucks!!! I find tampnos to be not-so-comfortable most of the time, they put weird pressure in my rectum, so at least when I wear pads, if an accident happens I'm covered! Which isn't common, but.... half the time I feel like I'm going to have one, & it's just regular period cramping.

Yeah, my periods made everything much worse. If you have rectal meds at all, try them.

You're doing pretty good to hold it in....so hopefully a flare's not "rearing". Maybe something you ate yesterday as well?

Do you have imodium? maybe a half or just one can get you through the rest of the day.

Hope all is well otherwise...considering how crazy busy things are for you.

quincy-- I am a holding-it-in monster. Even during my flare I always managed to keep from pooping myself. Also, no to the immodium, because I've actually been kind of constipated. If it doesn't let up when my period stops, I'll do more Rowasa. My mom brought it over.

Otherwise, pretty good. My boyfriend's been sick for like two weeks but all I have is a cough... keeping it away pretty well.

And on that front, sick, he took a Zicam on an empty stomach and puked in the car -.-

hahaha, no it was in his car actually. But I was still driving and cleaned it up because I'm just that nice. (Actually I'm not that nice, he's just lucky I love him.) I told my Chinese prof, who heard about the accident and everything, and she said, "You have strange luck with cars..."

Apparently the bottle said not to take on an empty stomach due to mild nausea, and he knew this. But took it anyways lol.

Although mild doesn't imply spewing vomit all over the dashboard.

Anywho, yeah, I know about the inflammation, but since my hormones are screwing with my UC, I'm waiting to see.

My periods have *always* been bad, long before the UC. I just recently read that getting diarrhea with your period is "normal" due to hormonal changes. (Hate how "normal" pretty much translates to 'deal with it'.) They never found anything physically wrong with me to explain why my cramps and all were so bad.

Anyway the last few times (I'm on the birth control you take three months straight so I only have a period four times a year, so 'last few times' covers the last year or so) a new trend popped up. Three days after my last pill, but *before* my period actually started, I'd get the *worst* day - full blown diarrhea with period-type cramps much worse than my normal "bad" days.

At least being so predictable I can plan around it right? Well the time I tried to use vacation time as a preemptive sick day it hit on day 2. Oops.

lol quincy, yeah. I was happy it wasn't my car. I had one of those ceramic "styrofoam" cups in the cupholder. After my bf puked, I pointed to the cup and said, "I almost gave you that to throw up in, but I really like it, and maybe that was selfish."

Hoshi, that's kind of how I am. One, maybe two terrible days at the beginning, and the rest are tolerable.
