I know many of us have skin conditions related to this disease...at least I know I do. I know there have been many times the doctor would tell me I have this or I have that so I would go online for a more in depth detail of what it is exactly. My daughter also has some skin issues. So my latest thing is for some reason when my hands get wet, the inside of my hands get severe "pebbling" and when that happens they feel super rough, bumpy and they're tender. It just started happening this past week. When my hands are dry, the "pebbling" goes away. I have no clue what it is so I was just curious and I found this website:

Does anyone else have this kind of bumps on the inside of their hands when exposed to water? It's not really bothersome because I don't have any problem when they're dry, but it is sort of odd.

You most likely have dyshidrotic eczema. I would look for more information on e-medicine or pubmed health. There are helpful remedies that you can start at home. Controlling the exposure to moisture of your hands is key. Your primary physician would like prescribe a steroid cream.

With eczema though, don't you have to have the flaking or blistering? I don't have any of that, nor is it red.

I'm wondering if your new hand issues could be related to a change in soap or lotions? But I'd assume you thought of that already.

I had the same thing when I was taking Humira. After I got off that drug, it went away and hasn't returned, thank God!

Yep, I have thought of that Q :) But if it's an allergic reaction, it doesn't necessarily mean that it has to be a new soap or lotion to cause a reaction. However, the pebbling gets worse more so when I am in the shower (longer exposure to water) and I use my shampoo and conditioner - which I have used for 3 years - but also Cetaphil for my body and face. As an experiment yesterday, I ran my hand under warm water just for the heck of it and used no soap...the pebbling developed almost instantly.

Are the "bumps" fluid filled? Little vesicles? There are several types of eczema. It is somewhat of a wastebasket term, like dermatitis and manifests in different ways.

No, the bumps are solid when wet and disappear when dry. I have a feeling it might be a fungal infection because now it's starting to burn and itch. Also the conditions are right for a fungal infection since I wear gloves a lot due to my Raynaud's. I have noticed that lately my palms seem to sweat while wearing gloves.

You mean gloves while you're washing dishes? If that's the case..yes..could be fungal.

No, when I wear gloves outside in the cold or in the car - the insides of my hands sweat. I don't wash dishes with my hands, I use a dishwasher and I have a weird avoidance about submersing my hands into water that I don't know the temperature of (standing water in the sink).
