Hello everyone:)
I'm brand new here...I was searching the net for some answers and this forum came up and I found it very helpful!

I have UC, I was diagnosed last May.

My gastroenterologyst gave me Align, but then I heard about VSL#3 and OMX...do you recommend one over the other and why?

Hi, and welcome to the forum! I'm glad you found us!

My son takes Align and thinks it helps. I take VSL #3 DS (Double strength, the prescription one) and it really helps me. I've headed into flares and have increased my VSL and have stopped the flare..... and a few months after I'd started the VSL (in a mild but persistent flare) I stopepd it to see what would happen and I started bleeding again. Restarted VSL, stopped bleeding. I repeated the experiment a month later, same results.

I've not heard of OMX - I'll look it up.

Folks here use a lot of different probiotics, and different ones help different people. There is no "one size fits all" with UC; we all seem to respond differently to various things, from meds to supplements to foods. Trial and error is the only way I know to find out what helps, and unfortunately.... it gets expensive.

I can recommend VSL#3. I have not used OMX. I have tried a number of different probiotic combinations but have settled on VSL #3. I have used VSL#3 for a year with good results. I use the double strength version and use 1 pack twice daily. It is covered by my insurance which makes it very affordable. If you search past forum topics on VSL #3, you will find a lot of prior postings on this topic.

I've used both VSL#3 and OMX (AKA Dr Ohhira's). OMX is better than many, but VSL#3 is best.
