I find that magnesium helps my condition. If you don't want to take supplements, perhaps try eating spinach. Many swear by the spinach and sunflower seed diet for their UC. You can read more about

I eat spinach and nut butters (excluding peanut butter) almost every day.
As for increasing flexibility, stretch, stretch, and stretch. That's what I do:

Oh. And remember always stretch out before doing any athletic activities to prevent injuries.
