Boxermom, I am so sorry to hear this. Was just logging on to see how you where before I head to bed. My heart is breaking for you. Was telling my husband about you last night and he to was saying you sound like someone who deserves to be a mom, it is so unfair, this illness take so from us already.
Look after yourself and play the lottery, our bad luck with this illness has to be repaid to us some other way.

Oh Boxermom,

I am very sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family. I know how difficult this pregnncy has been on you and I hope you can heal both body and mind.

Boxermom2, I too, between the ages of 40 and 43 suffered multiple miscarriages, 10 to be exact. I was incredibly fertile, I just couldn't maintain a pregnancy. I had had the help of a Reproductive Endocrinologist, had a full thrombopheila workup done, genetic testing etc....with no explanations. I was told that my UC would not be an issue in getting pregnant (obviously not) but, it was never determined if the UC was a contributing factor in not being able to maintaine the pregnancies. From the minute that I would have a positive pregnancy test, I would be injecting heparin (I have a history of blood clots) on the advice of a physician who specializes in high-risk pregnancies. It was loss #10 that I had my tubes tied. It's a decision, at times, I still regret. I'll always have those 'what if' moments, and will always have an empty spot in my heart.
Please know you are not alone in this, and there are support groups (some on-line and in real life as well) - but, take the time to heal....emotionally and physically. It is a tough road, sometimes a long one, sometimes a bumpy one, but you'll eventually get through this.

Michelle-  I was on Lovenox blood thinner injections plus an aspirin this whole pregnancy.  I tested negative for all the clotting factors as well but as a precaution took them.  I had a massive clot/hematoma in the placenta last time but there was nothing this time.  Everything looked good.  I can't imagine suffering through 10  losses.  My husband and I agreed we would try one more and this was it.  I have a feeling that future pregnancies will have the same outcome.  I tried one more time so I wouldn't have the regrets.  I did everything right and the UC was under control fairly quickly once on the Prednisone.  I don't think my meds had any thing to do with it.  It is like my body attacks itself once the pregnancy passes the 13 wk mark.  My last loss was at 17wks. 

Thanks everybody for you support and prayers.  This forum is a big help for me.

Boxermom, I am so very sorry for your loss...I also understand what you are going through as I couldn't have children as well. I had 4 miscarriages and made it to 13 weeks on 2 pregnancies. I am 46 now with a beautiful husband and 4 dogs! I was also told that my UC wouldn't stop me from having children but that was not the case. I just wanted to let you know that many of us understand.....

I agree with notsosicklygirl.... adopting is a good idea if you want to consider that.

Adopting isn't for us. It is very expensive and we don't have the money. I just wanted a baby of our own. If that is not possible we will move on with life.

I have been doing some research. I am HLA B27 positive and have been reading about how HLA can affect a pregnancy. I am going to see a high risk perinatoligist for a second opinion when I feel up to it. Not that I will try again but at least to give me some closure as to why this happens to me. At least I will know I have done all I could.

Babies are expensive no matter how you look at it. It's expensive to feed them, maternity care is expensive, delivery is expensive, education is expensive, clothes are expensive. It's never inexpensive to have a child, whether you adopt or carry. I always thought you could adopt if you're stable financially. I have a relative who adopted 2 girls, she's not rich but her and her husband were able to adopt. I think it is worth looking into if you really want to raise a child. It is wonderful to give a person a chance and believe me, there are a lot of needy people out there.

Adoption up front is very expensive. Then start adding on all the other fees. I totally understand; I looked into it myself.

I think you need a bundle up front in a lump sum that we just don't have. I personally don't want to adopt somebody elses child. Deep down I wanted my own and would have made sacrifices to care for it personally and financially. If I don't get a sticky baby of my own I guess this is the end of the road for me. I am very much a mother to my many nieces and nephews. I guess I will be adding another Boxer baby to my brood.

Boxermom, my nieces and nephews were totally my kids too. I love them all so much and are very close to them...and now they have kids that I get to adore as well. Okay, adore and spoil. lol. I think another boxer baby sounds pretty cool.
