How long after you were first diagnosed did you take off of work? I'm hoping I'm not rushing it..I was just diagnosed 2 days ago after about a 6 week period of symptoms, last 2 weeks pretty severe.

I didn't take off from work - and a month or two later, ended up in the hospital for a week. Went back to work after that.... ended up in the hospital for 2 weeks!
Then I took a month off.

I was better after that, and had had time to get my head around the concept of chronic illness, in addition to getting used to food journal, being observant of myself in new ways, etc.

I'm sure everyone's situation is different so this could be an interesting topic.

Myself I am very fortunate that I have not had to take any time off at all during neither of 2 one year long flares other than to make medical appointments. There are days that have been really tough (I work with preschoolers) but I've made it through. Giving myself a 2 hour window before leaving the house in the AM and allowing myself to sleep as early as needed and as much as I can on weekends has helped too.

After I was hospitalized and diagnosed my doctor took me off work for about 6 weeks. I was glad because I needed time to recuperate. If you can take the time it will help with you getitng rest. I feel rest is very important and I think most will agree.

That's basically what I'm doing taking off work - just relaxing. I've pushed myself through so much before my hospitalization, I didn't realize how sick I really was!

take care of you!! I have not taken much time off when I needed to and really wish I had, I put myself through too much (driving to work sitting on trash bags, running to the bathroom 25+ times a day). That was my bad b/c my co. is really good, I just thought I could handle it (in denial ; ).
