Hopefully he is being overly cautious and this won't be too serious. Best wishes for speedy healing.

I hope it's nothing serious. I've had fleshy looking stuff too, it can be mucus or medicine left over from an enema. I know it's not fun to see these things.

my gi only works at private hospitals
so he sent me to a private hospital
they said it will cost $400 and my insurance won't
cover any of the cost
so I didn't admit myself in cos I think it's to expensive
so I'm just riding this out and hope I get better

Why did you stop taking sulfasalazine? You could always go to the ER if you feel you're doing poorly. I don't think that dr's policy is fair, $400 and no way around it?

I used to have that fleshy looking stuff all the time at the worst of my flare.

The fleshy stuff is mucous and non-formed stool. You'll have that during a flare or when the colon is very upset if you have ibs. But, since you're bleeding it's obvious it's a flare...everything will be pushed out as fast as possible once it hits the colon.
Keep us posted as to how you're doing once you're out of the hospital.

I've had the blood and fleshy looking stuff, too. It is really freaky. I thought I was finally pooping my guts out! I hope you are feeling better soon.

LOL..Yep, can relate....I asked my doc about
it and he confirmed it was, indeed, NOT my colon tissue.

I went to the ER when I saw a ton of blood that I had never seen before since being diagnosed with UC. They said, sorry, hon, that's colitis. Started on pred, tapered, now in remission with 5ASAs. Point is, my fears were allayed when I went to the ER. Of course, I followed up with my GI. (He had wanted me to go on pred before all h-ll broke loose like that)
Also, I assume you are having gas.
