New Diagnosis perhaps.

Hey guys.
I'm away at school and I found a new doctor here at Cleveland Clinic. My first fully adult GI, I had a pediatric one prior. He believes that I might actually have Chrons Disease that is confined to the colon. For the last 8 years I was diagnosed with UC. This might change everything. Oh yeah I forgot to mention apparently Cleveland Clinic is supposed to be the second best in the nation for UC, so perhaps this could be a good thing for me. I'm going to have another Barium X-Ray and another Colonoscopy. I'll keep you guys updated.

Yes, I've heard Cleveland Clinic is one of the very best places.....!

I met with Dr. Achkar today - he seems very knowledgable and I'm happy I met with him. He said there is still some grey area with what is going on with me so I have to have my old GI send over my biopsy slides and also have a colonoscopy.
He noticed that my blood tests while I was pregnant and after delivery showed low iron so he sent me downstairs to have my blood drawn. He, Dr. Achkar, actually called me back a few hours later to tell me my iron was still low and what otc med to take. I was very impressed that he actually called me back and not someone else.
My colonoscopy will be in July - that is how far out he is scheduling right now and since I feel fine I decided to wait for him to be available. Of course, if things change I could call and see one of his colleagues sooner.
I'm glad I switched docs - I live so close to the Clinic I figured I might as well go see them.

no - dr. achkar is my second opinion. the grey area is that it could have been an infection but most likely is UC.
