I've no problem with rice. I eat wholegrain, wild or basmati rices. I cut out all gluten for 6 months a few years ago when on an exclusion diet. Many of my relatives are coeliac. I now avoid anything made from white flour or refined grains but I can eat wholegrain bread (not wholemeal) and organic gluten free pasta.
I went to Italy last summer and the food nearly killed me ;-) I miss French bread and pastries but it's worth it
