Hi again,

I got all my scripts, my doc suggest I start with flagly today and then add one antibiotic each day and by saturday I will be taking all three for breakfast lunch and dinner. I'm happy for you and I hope the goodness continues. Did you take all yours antibiotics with food?

On more thing Steve, did you take a yeast pill like diflucan during this course? Were you taking your UC meds too? Did you space out your pills from your regular medication for UC and probiotics? Thanks

Hey Therearemiracles* I am not sure which antibiotics that you will be taking but the ones that i took where amoxicillin 1500 mg/d, tetracycline 1500 mg/d, and metronidazole 750 mg/d. I took three pills three times a day, so it was hard to space it away from the probiotics. I did this for two weeks. I would follow the directions on the about taking with food. I was and still am taking Align, I doubled up on the Align which was two pills a day. I took one in the morning and one a night. The therapy did not affect my reg meds which is only entocort/budesonde. Knock on wood still doing ok right now. No yeast. Let us know how it goes. Oh let us know which antibiotics you will be taking.

Hi again,

I printed off you article and took to my doc,

I'm on the exact same ones you were, all the same doses as well.

I have been taking mine with food as well and will increase my probiotics.

Day two, I'm excited about seeing a change.

How are you today? How's the poops?

I am doing ok. Not exactly normal but better than I was before the therapy by far. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Hi The first thing I noticed is that my stool doesn't stink. Before it would clear a room and linger and it was so smelly and gross, other than that still the same. I thought I read it was months after therapy people got better. I will have to read the article again. I hope you improve more and more. I do believe in being your own advocate for your health so keep researching on what might work for you. Don't give up.

I was once on a a antibiotic regimen because I was being treated for Lyme's disease. My UC went in remission the entire time I was on the antibiotics...no coincidence I'm sure. Flared right back up as soon as I went off the antibiotics. Unfortuately it isn't a good long term solution for treating UC. (In my opinion)

Hi byebyeuc, I'm taking it for UC but it was prescribe by my lyme's doctor. I'm encouraged because the study shows improvement and or remission or steriod dependence 3-12 months after antibiotics treatment. I'm 3 1/2 days in and my stool hasn't formed up yet.

It did work for me for a while...I think I was on the antibiotics for 6 months. But as soon as my Lyme's treatment was done and I stopped the antibiotics, I was back to square one flaring again. I was nice those 6 months to be in remission though. Good luck!

Were you on the same antibiotics for the 6 months of the combo above or different and at different weeks? I was on antibiotics for a year for Lyme's, rocephin really helped me.

Hi, I was on the same antibiotic (just 1) the entire time and forgive me I cannot remember the name of it....it was a couple of years ago. I have since had surgery for my UC.

Thank you! Yes I am doing very well. I just wish I hadn't waited so long to have the surgery but hindsight is 20/20!

Hi Dpman,

If you read the study people did well after the treatment usuallyl the third month to the 12th month in after treatment. So your body could be adjusting. You have not posted in a week so hopefully you're golfing and enjoying life! I have 8 more days of pills to go! I'm doing fine on them, they haven't killed my gut like I thought they would. When I've taken just one type of them i.e. flagly my gut was bad and bleeding was really bad. I feel it's not any worse right now. The bad funky stool smells is gone you can't even tell I was in the bathroom and pooped. That must be a good thing. My energy is so good too and I can concentrate better!  I can come home and clean now, not just sitting on the couch for the rest of the night. My boyfriend has noticed a difference for the better.

Hey Therearemiracles The antibiotics get better each day. You should be taking a probiotic also. The antibiotics are in affect wiping out the bacteria--bad and good. I am doing ok. Hopefully things will get better though. Let me know how it goes.

Hi, I only 4 days to go on my antibiotic treatment, it hasn't been too bad at all! My stools changed in color to a more brown instead of yellow, the smell is totally gone you can't even tell I pooped when i leave a bathroom! The blood is less that's for sure. I do have the metallic taste in my mouth from the anitbiotics but that's ok with me. I'm surprised I was able to stick it out, normally antibiotics have made my gut so sore, but maybe the combo thing might be working. The reports show 3 to 12 months AFTER treatment improvement is shown.

Therearemicles---You should feel even better after the therapy. Each person reacts differently I suppose. I am starting to have UC symptoms again. However I am better than before the therapy. Still able to play golf, most of the urgency is gone. But like I said not cured.

That's wonderful that you've both done so well with this antibiotic therapy. That is my dream, an antibiotic or combo of antibiotics that fix the problem. I always felt like I had some kind of bacteria that caused this whole mess. Unfortunately it seems once it's "turned on", it's not easy to turn off.

Well I ate alfalfa sprouts I didn't wash from the grocery store and became deathly ill that night and for next three days! I never went to the hospital and I should have! Months later I started bleeding and my whole GI system was messed up! My doc did a scope and said he say nothing to cause my bleeding no ulcers, so imagine it was the bacteria.

Hope it does work, today by far has been my best day! My stools are not formed but I feel no urgency.

Hi muda, Good luck! I was scared because I had voilent reactions to oral antibiotics in the past but I've seem to do just fine on these!

Today is my 5th day on the combo antibiotic treatment

My condition prior to this treatment : approx 10 bowels movements a day, watery loose stools light in colour with blood and a terrible stench. Severe urgency especialy in the mornings

My condition with the combo antibiotics

Day one : No change in condition

Day two : More blood than usual in stools

Day three : Massive gas and very nauseas. I expelled enough gas to inflate a bus tyre. Change in stool colour to dark brown. Approx 15 bowel movements with no blood

Day four : Gas lessened. Stool still dark brown, dry and slightly formed with no blood

Day Five (this morning) : Severe gas at around 5 am. I got up went to the bathroom and I had a fully formed stool, the first in 17 years of UC.

One other thing : My stools are no longer smelling

Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP), which causes Johne's Disease in many species of ruminants, is endemic in the food animal herds of almost every developed country.
Johne is IBD of animals..

And some believe this is the reason of IBD in people.
But MAP is hard to kill with known antibiotics..

I finally finished up my antibiotics! Finally I was able to follow thru on something especially when it comes to meds. I didn't cut any corners. Here's to a better three months to 12 which the study showed were the improvements. Diaper man how are you? Muda and you?
