Was diagnosed back in mid April 11, Went in originally thinking it was just some horrible food poisoning. Had vomiting that turned into dry heaving bc why bother eating if all im gonna do is vomit it back up right? had diarrhea earlier that morning four hours later it turning into bright red blood... JOY! Went a couple hours because I thought it was just nothing i was seeing things, till all the lower abdominal cramping started.
Went to the ER had a rectal exam (i'm sure it's not going to be my last) was later on that week discharged with UC was told not to eat anything spicy for a couple days

I wasn't put on anything except for my GERD... Came home and read up on it on MDJunction and all of them where on Medications... made me wonder why I wasn't


Today 1month 2weeks later, everything is starting to flare up again surprising the dr on call said he was shocked I wasn't on anything for this

Earlier yesterday I found white stuff in my stool, read through the other forum about it but everyone there is on medication or another for this.... So is this different for me.... I'm guessing i should buy some gloves and "explore" it the next time I see it...

Hi...welcome to the forum.

I'm confused about how you were diagnosed. Did you have stool samples done, process of elimination regarding diagnosis is the key. Did you have biopsies taken during a colonoscopy?

What's the extent of your UC...limited or throughout?

There doesn't seem any need to explore the white stuff..that would be mucus. It's expelled during colonic irritation, extreme activity or inflammation.

What did the other doc suggest for medicaitons you should be on?

Do you not have a regular GI?

It doesn't really add up for me either. Did you have a colonoscopy? They really can't diagnose UC without biopsies. It is possible to have colitis that is not chronic but I would think they would need a biopsy to be sure.

***Oy! I should of typed out a whole novel for you about everything that happened.....**

I've had always had loose stools/frequent Diarrhea.... Bathroom trips my GI said it's possible i could of had thing longer then I knew about... Went in around 16 for the same kind of cramping/frequent trips for bowels my pediatrician at the time just said to eat more higher fiber foods

I think they did a total of 12 samples while i was in the ER/Hospital visit (6day stay)
had a soft endoscopy and the nasty golytely stuff they made me drink before hand.... tasted like gatorade wax....

the white stuff just started showing up maybe 2 weeks ago... and early yesterday before another round of diarrhea started up and frequent flyer miles to the bathroom all day yesterday.... along with all the nauesa and vomiting, on top of a flipping migraine......

Yea my GI said to call when I have extreme flareups this is a first since 50 days prior (had a blood transfusion and 2horse pills of potassium NOT fun) first enema ever to make everything go clear... Didn't think THAT was possible...

Called yesterday he suggested I go to the ER bc I saw blood... waited (on my own ) to see if it was a one time thing (which it was) before I went... he was more so shocked i wasn't on any medications for this and said its possibility that I start them soon if a 2nd flare up has came so soon....

When I first went in i had to tell them before my Catscan I had Neurofibromatosis (they where happy about that bc when they did I have about 40 something tumors sitting on my reproductive system) they saw how inflammed... Put me on cirpo (20 minutes later discovered I was allergic as all get out to to that went into anaphlaxtic shock) then put me on flagel for all the inflammation and if there was any bacteria in it before the colonoscopy it would be gone...

I was admitted next that night, the GI came in the AM told me they couldnt do the colonoscopy till the blood had slowed down or gotten lighter put me on a liquid diet that im doing today till its semi PB consistency
