"What most GIs would recommend" quickly becomes law for alot of GI practices. I just got the standard call from a scheduler telling me it was time for my annual scope. Note: this was after clearly stating to my doctor my intention of having one every other year. When I told her I wasn't going to schedule one, she got pretty put out. Evidently, it's rare for someone to not play along. I told her I'd already discussed it with my doc and she was still very insistent. I was only able to get off the phone by assuring her I'd discuss it again at my annual check up coming up next month.

My doc said after 7 years to get them every year. I was diagnosed in 2007, she wants me to have one in 2011 and then every year thereafter.

Wow....your decision, but it's interesting to hear because I have UC for over 21 years and my GI has never made that insistence....but he does lots of biopsies and my scopes are clean.

I think every 2 years to please the doc is good enough if all is clear and you're doing well UC-wise

with colitis you obviously need a lot of colonoscopes - at least one a year. Colon cancer is deadly, and even more so in patents with UC because they tend ft have flat, invasive aggressive tumors. Never put it off
