I smoked as a teenager. Didn't get symptoms of diarrhea and severe weightloss till I was 31. Bleeding started and diagnosed at 34.

I quit smoking 26 years ago and was dx last year. I don't think they are related in my case.

Just a thought, could the stress your body and mind be the trigger for colitis? Of course, that doesn't explain why using ecigs helps some people.

yes I was also a smoker before I was diagnosed

I did smoke as a teenager but quit when I married my wife some 32 years ago, so I was diagnosed during the smoking stupidity.

Got UC about a month after quitting.

I smoked for 22 years.

I quit in 3/07 and was diaged with UC in 11/07.

so 9 months later i guess!

When I told my gastro in 11/07 that I quit smoking in 3/07 his reply was:

"Interesting"

Still the best thing I could have done for my health, if it wasn't so bad and expensive I'd probably start again

im a non smoker, but when i was in remission for 2 years i did occationally smoke my friends cigs....

I was diagnosed while being a smoker. I quit and my symptoms improved!
