Lialda savings card - Huge savings!

In case your Dr hasn't told you, Lialda has a savings card that you can use until the end of 2011.  If you have insurance, it reduces your co-pay to $10.  Without insurance, I think it gives you up to $120 discount.  I had never used a card like this and was sceptical, but it worked for me!  My prescription of 90 pills for the month was $661 before insurance.  My insurance (medco) lowered it to $156.  After they applied the card, I really did only have to pay $10!  If you are on Lialda and your Dr hasn't given you the card, it's definitely worth looking into.   Here's the link if your Dr doesn't have any cards:  http://www.lialda.com/save-money-on-lialda.aspx

I recently got the prescription savings card for Lialda because I can't afford my Asacol without insurance. Also www.shirecares.com gives a higher cap on the amount you can make for help. Hard to get all the paperwork to both doctors with your tax return attached but I should be receiving free medicine from Shire for the Lialda. I will find out in the next few weeks!

I don't think that the card that I got is the same as what you are doing.  My Dr gave me the card and I activated it over the phone and then took it to the pharmacy.  I didn't have to give them any personal information and there were no income requirements.  I think what I have is the patient savings card, and you may be applying for the patient assistance program.  This one works with my prescription plan and pays for everything but $10 of my copay.

I have the patient savings card as well! I am using that for the savings now once I run out of the Asacol. The Shire Cares is to try to get it for free through the manufacturer. It does save a ton of money $50 off without insurance with the savings card.

I applied for the Shire Cares program for Lialda and was accepted. Just received my FREE medication this week. I am so happy that I found the information to apply on this forum. I was paying at least $100 a month for generic asacol through Canada online pharmacies and I was very surprised how easy it was to qualify for free Lialda. They look at your AGI, not your gross income, so that makes a big difference. It's worth going to the website and getting the information if you don't have insurance to pay for your medication.

I used that Lialda card, and only paid $10 for my meds, but apparently you can only use it once :( Tried to use it again yesterday and was denied!

No!  I just picked up my 2nd refill yesterday and they honored it.  Maybe the pharmacy didnt remember to apply it?

No, they actually told me it was a one-time thing and made me pay full price. Guess I'll go to a different pharmacy next time!

FYI - I just got a Lialda sample from my GI and it had a 2013 card in it. Going to try it Monday.

yep, plus I think they still might help those who are over but not by a significant amount

I have received 6 months free already which with my awful private health insurance has saved me roughly $4,000. Now that's b/c Shire charges so much in the first place, but getting it for $0 is incredible with all the other bills I've had pile up since I started having problems. Tack on that I'm getting generic Aza at a very low rate (for some reason my insurance covers 50% of it) and I'm hardly paying anything monthly for my cocktail of Pred/Aza/Lialda.
