I hope this is okay to post here.  But, can any of you share a special prayer or "saying" you repeated to yourself while sick in a flare?

I know this will help with stress and refocus my energy.

May sound silly, but when I am stressed and crampy I close by eyes and picture the Lord there holding my hand saying "it will get better".

I used to read this every morning when I was dealing with my first (and worst) flare. The idea of asking for protection when going into battle seemed particularly appropriate :) Hope you start feeling better soon.

I've some experience of the issue and techniques you've brought up. Simply put, they work.

Well, munching on suppositories would cause some swearing...especially if the foil is intact!
  Then for sure the ETs will be able to communicate with you when the foil is in contact with your fillings.

What works for me is closing my eyes and visualizing colors. I don't try and choose a color, just let my mind "see" it. When everything is going well the colors seem blue-green or cool shades. When things aren't well the colors seem more orange-red. Might be a little simplistic but it's a way I keep in touch with parts of my body that cannot speak or communicate in any other way (I almost never have had any UC pain). Then I try and tell my colon what a good job it's doing and thank you for trying to get better.

Also, I have used hypnosis which speaks to the subconscious, using a recording of my own voice telling me positive things. I haven't done this in a while because it hasn't been needed but it helped way back then.
The color imagery is easier because it can be done anywhere anytime.

no one's disrespecting anything that I see. I meant what I said in my original post. swearing and meds helps...no s**t.

Mackster's and my posts are considered out of line? BWAHAHAHA...give me a break. When we are striking out personally, different thing. No need for any warnings bbc.

The warning was meant for EVERYONE in this thread including you; I will warn, lock etc whenever I see fit, period.

What a shame, a great and very well intentioned thread meant to bring those suffering some solace.
