A Lill Input abt my symptoms- 34/M

Hi there ;

This forum is great and people seem very helpful and caring, so i thought to post my question here :

 I am 34 m from india , been living in states for aboue 10 years now. about 2 months ago i started seeing some blood and mucus in my stool. The blood seems reddish same color as my fresh blood. Dont have  urgency to go and feel minor discomfort in my lower abdominal (wouldn't call it pain). Dont hace any pain or crampy feeling at all prior, during or after the bowl movemen, Also feel some bloating and discomfort immediately after eating. I also have intermittent discomfot (2 on a scale of 10) around my belly button area. I have never had any GI problem or any other health problem all my life and have no family history of IBD or any other GI issues. Most of the time I see blood with mucus is when i strain and not a lot of stool comes out just a some loose stools with mucus and reddish mucus (which is blood). In the morning i get normal stool followed by mild diarrohea after a couple of hours. No other bowl movements throughtout the day or urgency to go . I am extremely stressed because of all that to the point that I feel its developing into an OCD.I keep reading online for my symptoms dreading an IBD.

I am trying to get some inputs from people as to if these symptoms look like colitis or could they be from internal hemmeroids (or fissure), IBS combination ?

Welcome to the forum; you're right about the folks on this forum - they are caring and knowledgeable.

Your symptoms could be a combination of all the things you mentioned.

Have you gone to your doctor?

I would suggest you get properly diagnosed.

Do you have a good GP who could see you, and if you need it, he/she could recommend you to a Gastro doc?

Maybe hemmie or colitis. The blood should rule out IBS. Blood when you are straining alot would put me in mindset of hemmie, but wouldn't know until you had it looked at.

I have been seeing a gatstro and am scheduled for a colonoscopy on Aug 2nd. Just trying to stay calm till then. I am trying to prepare myself for colitis which i think should be mild right now since : I dont have frequent bowel movements, bleeding and mucus are intermittent and mild, no pains, no urgency to go. I also noticed I see more blood and mucus the day after I have a few drinks. I am assuming its beneficial to catch UC on time and start the treatment before the symptoms get worse. Do you guys think its a life altering disease and how hard is it to live with it. Just boggles me since i never had seen a doctor in my life up untill a few months ago.

That's good. So you'll be getting your diagnosis soon. I hope for you it's just hemmies, with a little IBS.

Mine started out same way back in 1997, but I was seeing a little blood and mucus with no straining.

It is very life altering, but I finished out another year of undergrad and went on to be a doc after diagnosis. Rarely ever missed a day of work. You just change some of your routines and go on with life.

You may be developing a gluten sensitivity.  I'd cut out all gluten for a week and see if that makes a difference.  You can get a test for celiac disease but sometimes you get a false negative.  Try altering your diet.

@ rbartolo .good point ! it very well could be . These symptoms seems fairly generic for a bunch of different ailments. I will talk to my doctor about gluten senstivity

I noticed that for the most part I have blood and mucus when I strain. Can internal hemmeroids cause mucus and anal itching as well ? I am having all typical symptoms of mild IBS so just wondering if blood and mucus could be due to a internal hemmeroid.
