can lactose in medication cause bloating?

I used to take Centrium (sp?), the multivitamin but then I noticed it contained lactose so I stopped. When I did take it though it didn't cause any problems because perhaps it was such a small amount, but I don't want to take any chances.

It was some medication I was prescribed to manage stress and depression. I had to take 3 tablets per day and that made me so bloated. So I stopped immediately and the symptoms are fading away. I have also noticed that some of the medication I am taking for my ulcerative colitis caontain some lactose but my doctor said the quantity is so small that even lactose intolerant people can handle without any problem. My UC meds never gave me any problems, though until I combined them with other medication containing lactose. Thank God, no flare up!!

I am not living in the States and all my medication is of European brand.

So it's not about your pills filler, most probably this is an antidepresant reaction.

I am also using antidepresants (european) - cipralex & cymbalta. They seem to cause no harm to my gut (bloating), but they do tend to create disconfort in some people.
