very annoyed here, I have had UC since 2006 and am on Remicade but i keep having relapses of c.diff with crampy painful bloody mucusy stools with a headache and fever :(

Waiting on the results of my stool test and then deciding where to go from there but I am already a thin guy and honestly can not keep up with this infection.

I am begining to get scared and sad about this and how it is taking over my life.

If anyone has any advice or recomendations i would love to hear them :)

I am so grateful of this site as I can share stories and read others and get advice from others who totally understand what I am going through.

Hey Eric,

I am sorry you're having trouble with c. diff. It seems to be a common problem for us UCers. Have you been taking Flagyl to treat the c diff or Vancomyacin? I have heard people mention that Flagyl is not as effective.

I hope you can get treatment quickly. Do you take probiotics?

Ugh, C Diff is the worst! I'm so sorry you are going through this. Are you on any probiotics? I definately understand your feelings of sadness - do you have anyone you can talk to about what is going on? hang in there

Hey Eric. Sorry to hear about your situation. Do you know why you keep having reoccurring c.diff infections? I read that it is easily communicable when in hospital. Make sure you have a good probiotic like VSL#3.

Not sure if this is true but I was told that it is easy to get a false positive for C.diff if the stool sample you send in is formed stool as opposed to D type stool. That's what the lab told me. The logical person in me says that can't be true because don't they have to liquify the stool anyway before testing? I think I got told this excuse so they wouldn't have to test my stool.

I was on flagyl before which did work but it came back.
So now I am waiting on the results of my stool samples ( those are fun aren't they ?) to find out which route to fo to next. I have heard a lot about vacomycn (sp) and it seems to be the step in antibiotics for cdiff.
I am taking florastore regularly and am going to bump up my dosage as well as look into culturelle as well as look into seeing a natrupath as I think it will be beneficial for me just in general.
Lastly I do have a very supportive mom who is always there for me but sometimes like most non-uc suffers they just have no idea what it feels like. I am not mad about that but makes me ao grateful we have this forum to connect and share and vent and sometimeslaugh about our conditions.

Sounds like you need to try and rebuild your bowel flora. Try Jarrow Sacharomyces Boulardii and see if it helps.
