The gastroenterologists are ignorant of the causes of this disease. They mumble
something about autoimmune disorders, but they have no proof.
Before signing up your daughter for surgery, why not consider the possibility
that the cause of her disease is bacterial. Then, have her try
oral amoxicillin 1500 mg/day, tetracycline 1500 mg/day, and metronidazole 750 mg/day, for 2 weeks, as described in this Japanese study -

None of this is dangerous. The drugs the doctors habitually prescribe - prednisone,
Remicade - are dangerous, but they are standard, so the doctors will suffer
no legal or insurance consequences if they continue.
