Met with the PA at my GI's office this morning. She wanted to go over everything with me one more time. I did the 4 shots myself. They hurt but nothing too bad (I'm pretty tough!). Now I'm ready to feel better!!! Hopeful this will work :)

When I first started Humira and took the loading dose, those pens caught me off guard. It was really hard. Glad to hear it was easy for you!

I hope it works out well for you pink. Nice to see someone say the shots weren't too bad. I've heard they are a bit painful.

I was reading that the FDA did not approve Humira for Ulcerative Colitis. How is it still possible to get Humira when you have UC? Do health insurances cover Humira?

I believe Humira was approved by the FDA for UC in May, though I was on before that. Some insurance companies will authorize it I think if it is used for Crohns. I am on Cimzia which is technically approved for Crohns and not UC, and my insurance covered it.

I never found the shots too painful, I liked that the pen was so easy to use, the syringe I have for Cimzia is a whole 'nother ball game.

I am pretty sure it did not get approval, it just showed positive results in trials. I think the approval is close but they don't have it yet.
