Recent switch from Remicade to Humira and is Humira working for you??

Hi Everyone,
I've read some past posts about switching from Remicade to Humira, but am hoping for some more recent feedback from anyone.

I was on Remicade for about 5-6 years and doing great! Then, sadly, it's not working for me anymore and I'm now in a full flare. We are going to try switching to Humira to see if that works.

Has anyone had this similar recent situation? How long were you on Remicade before it stopped working? How long have you been on Humira? And is Humira working for you now?

I'm worried that Humira won't work for me and I'm at the end of the meds chain pretty much.

     Hi Jenn, sorry Remicade stopped working for you.  It sounds like you had a pretty good run with it though.  It stopped working for me after my 3rd infusion shakehead .  I was sooo excited after my first infusion because I had immediate dramatic results for the better!!!  My GI was ecstatic too.  But, it was not to last long.  I honestly believe it was the prednisone that helped and not so much the Remicade because I was off the prednisone at the time of my 3rd infusion.

     I tried Humira after Remicade.  However, I had no improvement at all during the three months I was on it.  Some people say it takes longer, but my GI doctor didn't have much faith in it after Remicade failed.  He still wanted me to try Cimzia..ugh.  But, by that time, I was sooo sick, prednisone dependent and reached my limitations with the disease.  I opted for surgery.

     I wish you all the best.  Everyone is different and since you had such great luck with Remicade, Humira just may work for you!!  Let's keep our fingers crossed!!!  God bless and the best of luck to you!

I was on Remicade for about 1 1/2-2 years. It worked well in the beginning, but slowly started to lose its effectiveness. I upped the dosage and decreased the time between transfusions. It became clear the Remicade had lost its power. I switched to Humira which unfortunately for me did absolutely nothing. Within a month and a 1/2 I was in the hospital. Since then I have had the j-pouch surgery. That is just my story, I have heard some have had luck with Humira.

Oh no! I was hoping for better experiences! I'm sorry you both had to opt for surgery. I'm still hoping Humira will work for me since I did have such a great run with Remicade for about 6 years. In the beginning I could go 10 weeks between infusions..at the lowest dosage. Slowly the time between infusions and the dosage amounts changed until I'm at 6 weeks, highest dose for my body weight..and that doesn't even last the 6 weeks anymore.

Anyone had a good experience switching?

I haven't tried either but I'm headed in that direction! Seems like it may be best to just go directly to surgery. I'm tired of drug working then not working and it's only been a year for me with this diagnoses! This is certainly a bossy condition and I'm not one of the lucky ones. Miss my window to try 6mp/Imuran because my GI keep trying less potent things first. Didn't know I'll run out of choices so quickly!
