Insurance rejected c-diff test.......REALLY!

I'd call your GI's office to see if they'll intervene. There's no reason, IMO, they should have denied that!

What was the reason they gave for denying it?

I've never had any simple test like that denied. Sounds fishy to me... sorry to say but I think there is more to the story than we are being told. If insurance companies deny people basic and legitimate tests like that, they open themselves up to lawsuits. Why would they do that?

There are incompetent and unhelpful people in any organization, be it government or private sector. A lot of times, it is just a matter of getting around those people and talking to someone who knows what they are doing. The quality of customer service in general is at rock bottom these days IMO. It seems every time I pick up the phone and call for customer service, I end up talking to some ^%$# computer and then find myself in voice mail jail. Even pressing zero is no guarantee of getting out of "jail", as the computer doesn't always give up that easy anymore.

Do you have a high deductible insurance? may you haven't met the amount where they actually start paying for things. Like my insurance has a $1000 deductible and a $5000 maximum out of pocket. So I had to pay all my bills myself until I reached $6000 in spending before my insurance would pay for anything. If they say its the deductible that means they cover it, but you have to pay it in order to reach the deductible. You'd be lucky if they cover acupuncture. Mine doesn't, i have to pay for that myself and it doesn't count towards those dang deductibles. God I hate insurance.
