In olden times (1980, lol) the liquid saline-style preps had not caught on yet. Whenever my doctor scheduled a c-scope, I was instructed to prepare several days in advance by starting on a restricted diet. This eliminated food or drink known to coat the colon mucosa. As I recall, 2 full days prior to c-scope I could only consume clear liquids, consomme, & clear jello. My doctor used to tell patients that this was necessary because any waste left in the colon would "get on the scope's light" so that the procedure could not be completed. I remember getting painfully hungry (rumbling gut) by the day before scoping! Ugh! / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)
