A few weeks back, the Prednisone was making me edgy and wakeful. I was having a lot of trouble getting to sleep, and it seemed as if suddenly Ambien stopped working. Since I was having a bit of pronounced daytime irritability, the GI prescribed the lowest dose of generic Xanax to be taken as needed upto 3x daily. I have had enough trouble focusing at work, so I only took it after dinner. I hoped that if I was more relaxed by bedtime and did get more sleep that the daytime edginess would resolve.
It worked pretty good. I had a great week. Only had to take Xanax a few evenings a week, and sometimes only half a pill. (I figure I had to have been at a really low dose.) Then an OK week. Then a week with odd diffuse daytime nausea and late-afternoon strong nausea and profound weariness. If I closed my eyes for a few minutes, I got a bit dizzy and more nauseous.
Since the only thing that had changed was the Xanax, and since nausea was a side effect, I stopped it for several days now. There seems to be some improvement.
Question is, does this make sense?
I was taking a very low dose just a few times a week. Seems like I would have been nauseous shortly after taking it, and not 20 hours later. Or was my late afternoon discomfort a kind of withdrawal? Or should I be searching for answers somewhere besides Xanax? I get routine blood work and metabolic panel in a few days, so I will know if vit-D or electrolytes or anemia is present, but except when I was on oral iron, I have not had this kind of nausea before.
Any ideas?
