A friend was recently counseling me on what form of protein powder to look for, not related to UC but related to pre- and post-workout nutrition. I wanted to just post what he said because I think it's salient, assuming protein powder works for you.
He said:
A note on whey protein powder. If a sales associate tries to get you to buy the hydroslate/hydrolyzed form of whey powder turn them down and ask for whey isolate, whey concentrate, or a mixture of both.
Hydroslate/hydrolyzed protein powders are predigested/partially hydrolyzed proteins which are digested faster. Studies show that they're only digested 5-10 minutes faster and there aren't any significant advantages of that feature. Most importantly, they're expensive and not worth it.
The ingredients list on the product label will tell you what form of powder is in the product.
