beating a flare without pred...?

With regard to grassfed vs. grain fed at Whole Foods.

That's how I found mine, and it's half the price of the Whole Foods products.

I try the basics protein, vegetables and low sugar fruits such as berries. I personally have have some sweetness in my diet. staying away from refined sugar is the biggest thing for me. My Dr. tells me to eat a low carb diet every single time I see him.

Well I was there for six hours and they gave me a bunch of IV fluids. about two bags worth, not sure on the size. Then they were talking about giving me iv pred which I said no to. I asked for prescriptions for enemas, preferably mesalamine but whatever would be best suggested.

He talked to the on call GI specialist and told me that despite my preference for a prednisone free recovery there had been too much damage done to think I'd be able to heal it by myself with the lower grade medications. He said the GI told him it would be better to do a short course of low dose prednisone as opposed to upping my sulfa use.

I ended up getting prescribed a 20 day pred taper (30-20-10-5-0). I didn't take any because I was still sort of bent on doing it myself. I got 2 hours of sleep. Basically spent the majority on the evening on the porcelain throne.

So, after weighing this morning the lightest I'd been since first diagnosis, my wife and I decided it would be best to stop the damage before it got any worse....it sucks but itis helping

I've been lucky so far in that I've controlled all my flares with Asacol and Rowasa enemas and Canasa suppositories. I've never had to go on pred so far, knock on wood.
