Who is complete remission on 6mp or Imuran.

I just want to know who's in remission on these medications. If so, what medication are you taking? How much?  I'm thinking of going on them next. I haven't had remission, ever, in 6 years but for one day. I don't know what did it that one day (I was on antibiotics) but it only lastest one day.

The other time, my doc said he couldn't see any inflammation and he said I was healed, I still have urgency, skinny stools and accidents. So I know I wasn't in remission.

I want to achieve remission, but 5asa rectal or oral doesn't seem to help me.

When I was first put on 6mp, it put me in total remission. But it was short lived - about 5 months. I am on 50mgs of 6mp. It took about 7 weeks before I noticed a difference in my symptoms but after that, it was like a switch was flipped. I woke up one morning and felt great.

I was in remission for about 7 months 100mg 6mp. I've been having a mild flare for a month now, still taking it. I think the inflamation is mostly at the end of my colon though. I seem to be doing better with a lot of rectal meds.

I have been in remission for a while now using 50mg 6mp. I do have ups and downs, I was flaring mildly a few weeks ago but I am feeling better now.

I have been on 6mp for about 2 years. I did have a mild flare a few months ago but with a short course of antibiotics and upping the 6mp dose it resolved. I started on 50 mg and now am on 75. Other than that one flare I've done great on it. I couldn't tolerate the 5 asas and they never helped me.

I still have seasonal flares, but they are so much more manageable.

Complete remission on 150mg of Imuran...have been in complete remission for 11 months.  The four year prior to starting Imuran I was never in complete remission.

I just stopped 6mp because I have gotten worse while on it, not because of it. I think it was because I stopped all rectal steroids, to see if the new meds wre working.

For me complete has been 11 months with no flares and no symptoms. I would not call it complete if you still have symptoms however seasonal flares might be normal for some people.

I think, I am in remission on Imuran + Balsalazide combination (b'coz I tried reducing Balsalazide dose and I flared in just 4 days)

With regards to your skinny stools comment, since my UC diagnosis, I have never had one solid poop. Its always been skinny and slippery (but I am taking fish oil too)

I have been on Imuran since Sept. 2010 and have been in complete remission. NO symptoms what so ever! Its been a life saver for me.
125mg. per day for me has been good. All bloodwork has been normal.

I have been on Imuran since July and feel like I am almost in remission. I still have a little bit of urgency, but that is always the last symptom of mine to go. I think it is partly mental and partly about retraining my body. I feel good and am eating pretty much anything within reason. Good luck.

     Before surgery I suffered with ulcerative proctitis for twelve years.  The doctor placed me on 50 mgm of 6MP back in 2000 along with prednisone (of course).  After the usual two month prednisone taper (usual for me anyways), the 6MP kept me in remission for two years...absolute heaven!  I took Colazal, nine pills a day, for maintenance and the rectal meds.

     In 2002 I suffered another flare and then suffered yearly flares, then twice a year until my surgery on June 28th of 2010.  My GI doctor did increase the 6MP in 2008 after my second hospitalization...up to 100 mgm but I suffered severe side effects, flu like symptoms, lethargy, double the normal bilirubin test result and off the wall pancreatic enzyme levels.  He did switch me back to 50 mgm but it did not help me.  I decided on surgery as a last resort...failed Remicade and Humira.  Became prednisone dependent with terrible side effects.
