SCD Questions

What meds are you taking? Are you using mesalamine enemas? Are you taking probiotics?
My personal opinion is I needed to do everything possible to achieve remission even though some poeple seem to get there much more easily. The mesalamine enemas really help with urgency IMO.

Well if you are getting positive results why stop? If you want to see if SCD is helping you can stop for a couple weeks and see if symptoms re-occur. You should keep a food journal to keep record of BM's and symptoms because our minds are not good at remembering exactly what happens on a daily basis.

I will say this about SCD and my own story with it-even though certain foods are legal on SCD they did not agree with my colon. SCD yogurt and most dairy was/is my biggest problem as well as legal fruit juices. I had to remove these and a few other things to start getting better. I kept a food journal and really, really concentrated on my guts reaction. Then I finally started to see improvement.

But some people never get improvement due to diet modification. I was one of those people for many years and I tried many different diets with little positive results until this last breakthrough. You are the only one who can determine whether food and drink has any positive/negative effect on your symptoms.

Diet mod. has had the greatest beneficial effect on my life, meds don't come close although mesalamaine enemas are a great secondary support. I never was Rx'd Remicade.

There are other alternatives to consider if diet just isn't working: LDN (low dose naltrexone) and fecal transplant. There are several threads on both of these.

... but to cheat with dairy is no doubt a way to mess you up. With me, It would be guaranteed cheat/fail with anything dairy.

thank you very much. i was debating on whether i should get an ice cream cake or a regular cake because i dont want the yeast from the regular cake. any ideas? maybe i can try to limit the fresh fruit intake and see if that will help.

I can't imagine a true cake recipe which has yeast. Yeast is in breads, but not cake or even quick breads (like banana bread and corn bread).

i'm tired of threads that start with a specific SCD question, adressed to people who follow SCD, in which someone bumps and starts something like this "scd does not work for me bla bla bla bla".

if the thread had a subject like "does scd works, should i try it or not" i would understand such posts, but since this is not the point here, i consider your post unusefull, and somehow, mean. you are not on topic here. i am sorry. and if i am being rude, i am sorry again.

I personally spend much less money on SCD. I don't buy organic so maybe that's why, and Elaine never says you have to. I think that's where a lot of people feel you need to start and it's not. If the diet doesn't work for you, that's fine... There is no one magic diet for everyone, but there are people who have gotten good results from it. I think it's important to encourage people to stay committed to changing their lifestyle even if it didn't work out for you.
