Hi All,

I am scheduled for wed. at 3pm. I will be on clear liquids all day tomorrow and not supposed to eat or drink anything after midnight tomorrow night. I will be doing magnesium citrate as my prep. one bottle @ 2pm tomorrow and the second bottle @ 6pm. Since my colonoscopy is not until 3pm on wed. (that is the only time I could get for a soon appt.) I would think that maybe I could have a light breakfast tomorrow, I was thinking just a couple of hard boiled eggs. Also, do I take my colozal tomorrow? My first and only other colonoscopy was when I was diagnosed and was not taking any meds at that point so not sure if I take them and I just noticed that my instructions do no mention these meds. only blood thinning meds.

You might have a small amount of clear liquids before 7 AM, but nothing after that. Definitely not eggs, no solid food or liquids you can't see through. I could mess up your scope, and you might have to do the prep all over again for another scope. Also, if you should happen to get nauseated from the sedation, it's safer to have an empty stomach - nothing there to choke on.

You might take your first three Colazal with that (very) early sip of liquid, then take the second dose when you get home and the third at bedtime. Or it likely wouldn't have much effect if you just missed one dose completely. Lorazepam, no - they'll be giving you medication to relax you through the IV. Your other meds can wait until evening.

Lorazepam won't hurt. I've always been given approval to take a minor dose but make sure you tell them. No Colozal or anything else with die. No solids, only clear liquids up to when they restrict that.

Hi, Thanks for the replies but I guess I did not explain myself very well, I appologize. I meant the day before the colonoscopy regarding the meds and the light breakfast not the day of. I did not end up eating a light breakfast because I woke up a little late because I don't work on tuesdays and I did end up taking my morning meds. I figure it is ok to take the rest of my meds today based on your responses about it probably being ok to take them the morning of the procedure.
