Isn't breastmilk generally perfect regardless of what the mother's getting from her own diet?
No, unfortunately it isn't so, the quality of the breastmilk is directly connected to the mother's diet.
How do you make that decision?
That's a tough call to make, and unfortunately only you can make. I guess you have to balance your health and UC flaring against breastfeeding, and that's really tough.
I did read somewhere that breastfeeding for 6 months gives your child a wonderful "basis" for life. Would that change how you make your decision?

I would suggest however, that you look into diet and alternatives. That's what's helped me so much.
