Well I am now wondering why I bothered to share what I thought was useful information about a diet from a naturopath?  I shared information that cost money,  making it free for other to view.  I shared the diet, in detail and exactly how the naturopath wrote it word for word, which it costs money to see a naturopath.  My thinking was that I would share the information for free, with others so they could see what worked for me.  Sharing of information is a powerful tool, that can help others not everyone.  But there are always people who come along and detroy, currupt, sceptical.  Gee! once the world was flat, and someone else thought it was round.  I am glad the people who thought the world was round did not go and crawl back under the rock from where they came.  If that happened we would not be as well educated and have evolved.  Then there would be no options.

Dear Mum of 3. You will find naysayers will always be more vocal than those who are open-minded and positive. Thank you for sharing. I am so happy for you and hope you and others who have good things to share will continue to share.

Hi Max89 and emw35 thanks next time if I go off-topic I will use OT. How are you going max89, I am trying to cook a gluten free choc cake for my husband unfortunately it has alot of caster sugar, butter, milk in it with almond meal, eggs, gluten free SR flour and I used cacao organic type of cocoa I was given by a friend. Hope it turns out ok I would really like to try a bit but hmm not worth risking hmm. Must admit it smells really good home my husband likes it am trying to include some ideas into the family diet as it would be healthy for them and make it easier for me.

Well I have tried a small piece of the chocolate cake now I will just have to wait and see if there is any repercusion, it was still warm and very nice I added ssome vanilla extract to it as it seemed it needed sweetning.

i am sorry, but the thread got closed mostly because of you :)

colitis_sux might have been sceptical but she has her point: there can be relapses even with the diet. and yes, she is probably true from what i've read and what i've talked to people - the diet mostly works for mild&moderate conditions.

the 10-15 yers come back was a harsh one, but also has some truth with it: there's no cure. only remission. long term, forever, short term, but remission.
not cure.
even if you do not have symptoms you can have microscopic inflammation in there. i don't mean to lower your enthusiasm, which is great. but you must always keep in mind that UC can come back. if diet works for you this thought will keep you back from making mistakes and
excesses.

i see diet as a good mean to manage this disease. not cure it. and yes - there's no magic feather - at least not for all. but as long as the feather works, enjoy it and share it.

with a little bit of moderation from your part that thread would have been remained open.

I am home from work thank you Alinus you are a very straight shooter, I will live and learn you are right I will have to be careful not to stray from the diet while it works I hope it works for awhile because this is the happiest I have been in over 2 years. I smile more again now and laugh more with the children, even feel a bit sexier now as UC is not the sexiest of diseases when its full blown. My husband did not like the cake but our 8 year old daughter did, I tried a bit it was a nice treat but it did give me a bit of wind while I was at work. Had dinner at work and forgot to take my shake, and it is too late now as it is 12.20am here in Adeladie. Do you eat your beetroot raw or do you cook it yourself?

Beetroot? never even heard of it. Do you season it with something after pressure cooking it?

I think beetroot is basically beets, which are a root. I like to juice them raw with other veggies and fruits. Yum!!!

It's beets, the root. Some people say beetroot, especially in Australia. I usually pressure cook them until they are tender - about 15 minutes and then I cool, peel off the skin and chop. I use cider vinegar and a bit of olive oil and salt/pepper. Sometimes I add cheese, feta or roquefort and some arugula and make it into a salad but it's mostly beets. I also use a lot of fresh parsley.

I prefer the golden beets, I've had a few scares with the red ones. They go in red and come out red if you catch my drift.

Mmm, I love beets too! I just steam them; I'm going to try your recipe NSG -- sounds delicious!

When you presssure cook the beetroot do you just do it with water or with water and a little olive oil? I love my pressure cooker I make a nice vegetable a chicken curry, but would like to be able to make beetroot.
