Well I don't see my specialist until next week but i saw my GP today who showed me the report.  I already knew from the specialist on the day that visually it was all normal. Biospies are all normal too!

So maybe I'm not a member of this club after all which is lucky for me.  When I last saw the specialist (the new one) she thought my problem is more constipation.
I suspect my problems with D arose more from the gallbladder removal and perhaps microscopic colits which has resolved.
Taking daily fibre supplements has helped and I am not getting pain as often so go figure?

Did you get a copy of the results from the GP? The reason I'm asking...normal might mean unremarkable, but with still some cellular changes that show previous inflammation, etc.

Microscopic colitis would show up on the biopsies, whichever of the two.

Were you ever on UC meds?

HI Quincy I don't have a copy of them I will get them next week. I was on sulfazine which helped at first and then made me sicker! I guess I will know more next week but it seems that I don't have UC after all which ahs to be a good thing:)

So, who diagnosed you initially....and do you have a copy of that biopsies results report? If not...get it.

Hi Quincy yes my first GI daignosed UC based on microscopic results - nothing was visiible to the eye -
my second GI doubted the UC diagnosis and thought it could be micrscopic colitis. She thought UC would be visible

Well, now I'm confused because UC wouldn't be diagnosed as a for sure through biopsies. Consistent with, but not a for sure.

Microscopic colitis is a different thing, not visible as a for sure...can be mistaken for UC if symptoms mimic it...but would be confirmed based on microscopic cellular changes.

If you had NO visible signs of UC, I cannot even imagine a doctor saying you would have it.

Do you have the copy of the results?

The first results yes and that is definintely what he did - have lots of follow up letters to that effect as well he also thoguth soe of it was bile duct D from te gallstones. He just kept increasing the UC meds until they were making me really ill and he wasn't listening which is why I sacked him and got a second opinion which is just as well!

Really to bad that we don't have a national medical database that would track people diagnosed with UC and other diseases. It is very difficult to figure out how often UC is incorrectly diagnosed and if it every just goes away. Some felt UP was put into permanent remission in 10% of people diagnosed. At least 3 people have posted on this site in the last year that they were improperly diagnosed with UC when they had other types of colitis. Colitis that may never come back.

What happened to the person that Mayo told they had divertulular colitis 7 years later?

I guess I can only hope I might get lucky like you. :-)

We are very lucky I read the posts from people in America struggling to pay for their meds which I find just outrageous. Everyone should be able to afford medication. America needs proper health care

s_morgana, so true. If that is something that is accomplished in my lifetime, I will see hope for the future generation in this country. Otherwise, not so much.
