Hi, guys!
I have not been around here in a while. I just wanted to update everyone on how I'm doing. It's been just over 2 years since my first surgery, and I'm happy to say I am doing really well. Imuran is working for me. I do go to the bathroom more times a day than a normal person, of course, but I think I am to the point of going as many times as a normal j-poucher and am feeling well.
I'm still trying to conceive our second child. I got pregnant almost a year ago and had a super super early miscarriage and have been trying since then. I wasn't ovulating very often, so I'm on Clomid for that and this is my second month. I'm just hoping we can have another child.
I'm also still looking for work. I became a licensed attorney last April or May and a licensed Master Social Worker then as well, but I have not had any luck finding a job :(. I recently started a photography business, which I love, but that is not anywhere near full time and is more of a hobby.

The bad thing is if I don't find a job with benefits soon, I will have to stop seeing my GI and get off my meds. We qualified for state aid for health insurance this past year but will no longer qualify when we recertify next month, as we make just slightly over the income limits (which is a joke because we don't make much at all)

I'm really glad you're feeling good these days! It's been a LONG road for you, long.... Hopefully a job will find you soon- both your field, social work & law, tend to offer good benefits.

Two graduate degrees, a child and a new business since you've been dealing with all of these issues?!?! Kudos Pam! You are an inspiration and I'm thrilled you're well. Best of luck to you, you've earned it!

Wow! It's great to hear from you, Pam; thanks so much for updating us. You really have come a long way after such terrible ordeals in 2009-10. Gads! I really was worried about
you during all those surgeries. And now you have 2 professional degrees, pretty amazing what you've been able to accomplish despite major medical problems. As for baby#2, try to relax and not worry about
conceiving. I've heard from quite a few parents that things tend to go better when there is less pressure to "achieve". In the long run it usually works out well when sibs have 2 or more years between them as they grow up, and is definitely less financial strain when they reach the age for college. Good luck with your health insurance issues! (Keep us posted.) / Old Hat (31 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

pam, I am so happy to hear the update. It sounds like you're doing well. You know, some part-time jobs will give health insurance. I believe Starbucks and Petco are 2 companies that give health benefits for part-time employees. I am sure there are others. I know it's not what you want to be doing but it may be worth working on the weekends to make some extra $ and get benefits. I have heard the job market is really weak right now. It seems like it is almost impossible to get a job these days. I hope everything falls into place for you soon.

Glad you are doing well. I had three miscarriages between my first and second child. My advice would be to just relax and try not to worry about
it. I know that is easier said then done. I was such a nervous wreck then. Now in hinsite I can see it all worked out and for the good(when I was trying for my third I had no problems it took two months and no pregnancy issues at all) I wish you the best of luck in having another child and in the job search. It is great you are doing better health wise. I hope everything falls into place with you. Keep us posted from time to time.

Thanks, everyone :)
I have been on sooo many job interviews and am always told I have a very high education level but lack the experience that many other applicants have. Due to lay-offs, there are a lot of experienced people out of work taking the more entry level jobs in the professional market. It stinks.
But I enrolled my son in preschool 3 days a week starting next Monday. We're using our tax return to pay for it, but this way I can volunteer somewhere to gain some experience. At least I'm not sitting around complaining and I can say I'm doing everything I can
I do still read on here fairly often--just don't post much
