What the *%# Alinus?
I want to know who out there consumes grains without issues, despite having UC. I need to know if this is a must do if you have UC. Can the residual effect sneak up on you later as suggested by soystud? Or, is this just another treatment option like gluten, dairy, etc.?
The reason I ask is my son has no issues with grains, dairy, gluten, etc. That said, we choose to eat a very healthy, all natural diet that mostly mimics the Makers/Biblical diet.
i cannot answer your questions, because there's a lot of data that can contradict both point of views (grains or no grains). most probably theres more data that will advertise grains.
i can speak for my self only: i do not eat grains anymore. and the most important argument for this is because i am better of. not only with my UC and AS. i weight now same as i did when i was 22 - 80 kg (before i was 110 kg), i am in a good shape. my fatty liver problems dissapeared after going on this diet. my HDL is higher than before (true - the cholesterol levels as a hole are higher than average, but they were always this way, and even if some years ago i've gone vegetarian for a couple of months my HDL did not increased and LDL did not decreased, as it happened now), my triglycerides are low
i have a brother (22) and a sister (15). my brother eats mostly western diet. so far no problems for him. my sister is on some kind of paleo/natural diet - because she's orphan she lives with me and that's the food we are eating in this house. no problems for her either. she looks just fine and grows just fine. i do not forbid her to eat whatever she likes when she goes out, but at home this diet has become a habit and not because of my special diet, but because my wife likes to cook this way and she thinks it's ok to do it.
there's no way telling if your kid will get into trouble. so if you know that he has no issues with what we discuss here then let him be. it's your choice and his.
