PREDNISONE SIDE AFFECTS

I started taking prednisone yesterday and last night sweated so much i had to change my pillow case and will probably put towels down on my sheet tonight is there anything i can take that will stop me from sweating

I don't think so, it's an unfortunate side effect of prednisone. It probably won't happen every night, just once in a while :(

Be sure to drink plenty of water, I didnt, got really dehydrated, and ended up with real bad hand and foot cramps.

I like to call it your very own "personal summer". My hubby had to stop on his way home from work the one day I was on it for a slurpee. I had never been so hot in my life. It did help immensely.

i wish i knew of a way to help! i sweated profusely the entire time i was on prednisone- 3.5 months. i'd end up changing my pajamas at around 3 am just because they were so soaked. it was literally like i had just gone swimming. my parents started getting wet guards to put down on my sheets and the couch so when i'd get wet, it wouldn't always be on the sheets.

Hey, to be honest UCTURTLE, I didn't really suffer with 'night sweats' more just intense sweating throughout the day, the more I worried about it the more it happened very vicious circle. I did however suffer with them before my diagnosis as a symptom of the illness, I found opening my window an hour before bed, and using a thin blanket and minimum bedwear, (AKA GET NAKED)....And for some reason not eating so late made it easier. It really is a horrific symptom, and I feel your pain, finger's crossed that they get better, darn PRED!! TAKE CARE!

     Hmm...that must be the only symptom I never got!  Prednisone gave me horrible insomnia, mood swings, moon face, osteoporosis, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes but never night sweats..lol.

Yea i havent slept well either but my flare is getting a little better every day wich is what matters i guess im not bleeding as much so thats good

60mg is a strong dose!!! Hang in there! I am on 30mg, I am suffering from insomnia, and irritability during the day, however my UC symptoms have improved a lot!

My doc gladly perscribed me a low dose of Ativan, which helps me fall and stay asleep. I am sure if you ask your doc they will give you something for the side effects.

Prednisone sucks! No nice way to put it. I was on 60mg many times and the side effects got a bit better as the dose tapered down. The night sweats are the worst. I would keep several changes of clothes by my bedside. My heart used to palpitate too really bad on that high dose. Nothing you can do about it unfortunately. I hope it stops your flare though at least.
