What are these? Google search doesn't really turn up anything useful. Is it enemas like Rowasa? How much do they cost for a monthly supply with no insurance?

They aare expensive without insurance. I know Canasa suppositories are about $500 per box without insurance but they have an amazing PAP program that makes it very affordable. www.canasacare.com

I bet Rowasa is about $500 a month without insurance too and that's using once a day, if you need a double dose, you would have to pay 2x. PAP programs usually only cover 1 month at a time, anything over that dose, you have to pay for out of pocket.

Thanks notsosicklygirl. My mom said they were about $85 (generic I believe) for a week's supply but I didn't believe her! We got it a long time ago so I thought maybe she got confused. Unfortunately I don't have the time to mess with PAP, my experience with Salix PAP was terrible and it always took forever to get any answer from them. I need to get rid of a flare asap.

What about steroid enemas? I know oral steroids cost almost nothing. Are steroid enemas also as cheap?

Rowasa for me the generic would be somewhere between $750-$800 for 3 month supply. Luckily I pay $13.

The Canasa program takes about 5 minutes to get into. You can use the info they give you over the phone to get your Canasa for $20 each month for a year I believe. It used to be $5, it was great! The problem is that the suppositories are only 1000mg. I believe I had a PAP program for Cortifoam in the resources thread on the top of the forum main page, but you're right, if it's time sensitive, some of these PAP programs take forever to get enrolled in. P&G took a month!

You know, its absolutely outrageous that patients in need of Asacol, Canasa and/or Rowasa that lack the funds for them are in danger of being denied effective treatment. That the manufacturer of Asacol has been patent protected for as long as they have is just unconscionable. I mean, even Lipitor has gone generic. Its only because some very well paid lobbyist has been bribing with campaign contributions the filth that supposedly "serve" us in Washington that that's been possible. I've been lucky, I've been able to afford my medications because I have access to a well designed health insurance program. But what about those not as fortunate as I've been?
