Enemas creating diarrhea?

Hello everyone.
Ive been using the salofalk enemas 4g for quite a while now (6 months) and noticed recently that everytime i use them the next morning its a lot of liquid and its quite acidic.
The day I havent used an enemas my stools are more formed.

However ive started the asacol 2400 mg pills 3 weeks ago and noticed the liquidified stools.
This texture is quite unusual to me as I had semi to formed stools for a while now.

I was wondering if the max dosage of pills and enemas combined together would create a reaction like this one?
Or is it just the asacol pills giving me some action? Since I started them I had a bit of headaches.

I think its the increased overall dose of the meds, both enemas and pills.
But the blood is long gone and are left gas and mucus only. Save the best for last?

It makes sense. However I should add its not because the stools are looser that i have more bms. Its still down to 2 a day in the morning. I odnt have this diarrhea feeling just regular morning with acidic loose stools.

well it would be like a normal bm frequency and the discomfort would come when im wiping. I feel the liquid thats needs wipping is a bit more acidic. Difficult to explain. It doesnt burn a lot. And its always the morning after i done a nightly enemas. Never the morning after i havent done one or done a suppository.

But this started only since i started my asacol pills. Should that be the 4g plus 2400mg dose together that needs a while to kick in?

Im using a probiotic called Yakult. It isnt available in Canada. In canada I used BioK in the liquid form.

Oh wow what a nice idea! Im having a scope soon and that would be a good time to ask for it. How come its not available in north america? and is it the one that contains a bit of steroids? or only mesalamine?

No, patients in the UK can get a mesalamine-only retention foam. (Antiflare just posted about it recently because it is helping his son to overcome the nagging end of inflammation.) The med that has a bit of steriod is Cortifoam (in U.S.-- 10% steroid) and Proctofoam (1% steroid, mainly treats hemmies). Why we can't get the mesalamine foam in North America is a question I would love to have addressed by IBD specialists! Maybe the suppository producers are keeping it out of their market to protect their profit margin.

In relation to funny poop, I have been on Pentasa suppositories 3G daily and predfoam. I noticed from yesterday there was alot of rumbling in my colon, not gas just rumbling sounds. This morning I felt I needed a bowel movement but what came out was a sticky (slightly mucous) like chalky flecked with purple black small bit if blood. Just wondering if this means that they are working?
I suppose anything can be better than what I was passing alot of blood and huge clots, I was in hospital 2 weeks ago for blood transfussions I lost souch blood at 32 weeks pregnant, midwife wanted to see what I was passing however was finding it very hard to believe when she saw it, that it was coming from my backpassage! Thankfully now bleeding is 85% improved which I'm hoping is a result of the meds. V anxious what may come after I give birth but trying to stay positive.

thanks heather. I often heard that probiotics in capsules are often less effective and active. And it seems everytime I asked for help with probiotics in capsule I was always offered the max dose and price stating that higher is better without any other explanation.

Ill enquire for the capsules. Mmmmm ice cream!

Im seeing a gp tomorrow morning regarding my prescription from the GI doctor so I can ask for a foam. The foam only comes in 1g though. But at this point I think im doing all I can until my scope but until then I just have to have patience and be regular with my pills and enemas.

Maybe one day my patience will pay off (since late summer ive been battling to get me back to normal) but i cant expect my body to recover from years of negligence med wise. Im nearly there!
