Just getting started

Just joined today, figured i should be in contact with others that can relate to what is going on. Just got diagnosed right before Christmas, yeah it sucked. but I had been having issues since October '11. I went to the ER 3 times before they suggested a full GI workup. I wasn't helping much since i wasn't completely honest at the ER. (I was pretty freaked out about what could be wrong) I learned my lesson and wont let that go on that long ever again. I'm pretty upbeat about the whole thing, I just want to be able to live with little discomfort because WOW, this stuff hurts! I'm on 100mg Cortenema retention enemas. they have been working but today was the first day it didn't feel like it worked as well. Any advise would be great, should be going back in to the doc's office in a couple of weeks to see what other treatment they are going to start me on. Well thanks for reading and taking interest. It's good that you will be going to a specialist. With luck, it will be a doctor who is open to treatment with both drugs and natural supplements like probiotics.
You will find a lot of information on this website.
It's good to be somewhat informed before seeing the doctor so you'll have some idea of what questions to ask.

Steroids like prednisone should be avoided if possible because of the side effects.
Whatever the doctor recommends, ask about the side effects because many are not very forthcoming with that information.
When I was new to the site, I found browsing through past posts very informative.

no oral meds yet, today at the end of the work day and after dinner, urgency was an issue. it wasn't bad, but i defiantly had to go. it was pretty much mucus, but in the morning it was a quality BM. I have a dr appt on march 6th, but I'm nervous that the hydro enemas are not working and the pain is going to come back. (felt slight rectal pain for about an hour after the enema.) I am going to email my doc and see if a trip to the ER to get some different meds faster than waiting almost 3 weeks. Just started a new job and I cant miss days because of this. was up front with the boss about the issue, so i can make up the time, but not a good way to start a great job opportunity. sorry my message jump from topic to topic..........My inflammation was right at the first turn as you get to the large intestine (i hope that's right, i need to start looking at a diagram of the track......ok just looked at a pic of the digestive track...its in the descending colon. well that all i got for now. thanks for the responses, i will defiantly keep updating and the support is great.......sorry if i missed anyone's question.

Well I got my appt move up to tomorrow! So I will be mentioning all of those things to the doctor

Welcome to the forum. I agree with everyone else. You need some oral meds of some kind and the Rowasa enemas will reach further than the ones you are on. A good probiotic can be very helpfull too. :)
