_____________ than have UC.
My answers: be pregnant, get fat, never have sex, lose my job, lose a small appendage, get my appendix taken out, be wrinkly, and total my car.
What about
you?

I'd rather total my car and be unemployed (already am), I'd definitely rather have my appendix out. I'd rather have battled cancer and won. I wouldn't rather be obese though. When I was on pred and I gained a lot of weight, I was wishing I had never started the evil pred and that I was sick and thin. Awful, I know. I'd rather never have sex then have UC. I never had too much interest in sex as it is. I wouldn't want to give up my sex drive if I had one. I lost mine long ago and it's the worst. Being pregnant at least gets you something you want. UC has no positives.

Yep, hence the reason I had my rotten, no good colon out. I wouldn't wish UC on my worst enemy.

This is a really tough question even though it isn't a real choice. Makes me think. I've already said to myself that I'd be OK with being fat if my colon was healthy and during the last 12 years have weighed 25 lbs more than now (not due to prednisone).
These are temporary: fat, pregnant (OK the child is permanent lol), appendix op., car totaled, so are no brainers compared to an incurable lifelong disease like UC.
Small appendage lost? Yes that would be OK to be 100% UC free.
Wrinkly? Yes that would be fine at my age 50-something lol.
Sex drive lost? No, I would not trade that for UC-free.
But...we don't get to make these decisions.
The decisions we get to make are: do we take the meds and which ones, do we use enemas, do we change our diets drastically, do we use supplements, do we try alternative treatments, do we go for surgery.
When I start feeling sorry for myself I just think of all the worse diseases I could have instead of UC. I didn't do anything to deserve getting this disease but neither did people with MS, ALS, diabetes, cancer and every other bad thing you can think of.
Sometimes I think that if we knew how bad other people around us felt (physically, mentally, emotionally) we might be surprised at how well off we were in comparison. I know that people look at me and think I must be so healthy because my exterior doesn't show anything bad. The same could be true of them too.

I agree with just about
everything imagardener2 said. If I could wish away UC, I would. However, I personally would rather have UC than a lot of other diseases, and in the early days of my diagnosis, when I started to feel sorry for myself, I'd remember that, and focus on all of the good things in my life. Because in all honesty, there's far, far more good in my life than the negative that is UC. I realize that since my UC is under good control it's probably "easy" for me to say stuff like this, but still, it's all about
perspective.

I too would never wish this disease on my worst enemy and I don't even have it as bad as many of you. Its just knowing I coud one day get REALLY sick. And I do feel fortunate to not have a disease much worse than UC.

I had breast cancer and it was better than having UC, but of course I would say that because I have a great prognosis. But UC interferes with daily life way more than my cancer treatment did.

Well after having rectal bleeding I thought maybe I had a hemmoriod...than found about
about
the crappy UC... So I'd rather have hemmoroids, never drink alcohol, be pregnant. Hmmm, this is an interesting question.

I'd rather have me locked up for a week with Mariah Carey in heat with 10 siamese cats moaning while she sings than having uc.

I , too, go with the rather not have it than have it.
The grass isn't always greener on the other side....know what you wish for....better the devil you know than the devil you don't....etc.
There's merit to those sayings.
