 I just went to the Dr. yesterday. Then found out I had an ear infection along with Bronchitis. He prescribed  Azithromycin. I have never in my life had Bronchitis. I do mot smoke. I believe remicade is the cause of this, along with the ear infection.

 I'm scheduled for my next remicade infusion on 3-30-2012. I'm not for sure what to do. My Primary Dr. seemed to think things should be cleared up by then. I going to make a call to the infusion center on Monday, and see what they say. I just wondering if this going to happen again. I need the remicade for my UC. I tried all the other UC meds.

 I thought I would ask if this has happened to anyone else.

I got a sinus infection in January; I never get sinus infections anymore (last one was 20 years ago). It coincided when I began Remicade as well. A one time deal shouldn't be to worrisome, but if you keep getting sick you should discuss this with your GI. You do have frequent bloodwork don't you? Your WBC is good?

I have been on Remicade a little over 2 years. This is the first time this happened. Hopefully it won't happen again.
I do have blood work done, everytime I get my remicade infusion every 2 months. My blood work has always been good.

I got a sinus infection this year and the Dr also gave me the same antibiotic your taking. I had my remicaide infusion 10 days later, still felt a little crappy, and was fine. Im not sure when your next infusion is since its past 3/20/12. But as long as your not still very ill, you should be fine. Hope this helps

Thanks for the information jabby. I'm feeling better. My infusion is on 3-30-2012.
I also have left side UC 2004. My Dr. said it's the hardest to treat, have you heard that before? Just wondering.

My Doc never said that, but I have had my run of problems, lol...........and bad luck so I wouldnt be surprised! Glad your doing better- good luck with your infusion. Remicaide is my miracle drug!

I am definitely having more respiratory issues -- colds and bronchitis --since being on Remicade! It's a pain, but not as bad as UC so I would not consider giving up Remicade.
No infections, so no antibiotics...but I wish there was some way to get through these snorky episodes faster.

I think that by the very nature of Remicade, obviously we are more susceptible to infections. Anything you come in contact with, which may not have made you sick before, might make you sick now that your immune system is compromised. My doctor advised me to stay away from my kids school because we received notice there were some viruses going around. I also have started carrying around an antibacterial in my purse, where before I never worried about that. I am very fortunate that I haven't gotten sick since starting the Remi, but I know as long as I'm in remission I'm never going to stop it.

Aside from that, the last time I had a sinus infection and was prescribed antibiotics, my GI DID NOT let me take oral antibiotics, which go through your GI tract. It stand to reason that if all that system is messed up, you are going to destroy the delicate intestinal flora, and damage your intestines even more with antibiotics. I had to have them injected (took one a day for three days).

I am CONVINCED, and my new GI is as well, that I brought on UC because of having a delicate GI and taking antibiotics and pain meds after an operation.
