Left side pain

So, I was wondering if anyone else has had a flare with just severe left side pain, very little diarrhea and no blood or mucus. Its really puzzling me that this is mainly my only symptom. Oh, and everytime I eat the pain is more severe

I usually flare with hardly any bleeding, mostly pain. But mine doesn't increase when eating...

oh yeah. pain always happens to me. like crippling pain where i'm stuck in a fetal position until it goes away.

yes, it's spasming from being inflamed. After you eat, it will trigger peristalsis and the lower colon to try and expel out anything that might be in there.

I suggest you ask the doc for an antispasmodic (I use dicyclomine), and to get on the enemas instead of the suppositories.

I hope you feel better soon.

Oh, are you near your period? That can compound the spasming as well.

Oh good, I'm glad other people have had similar experiences. Quincy I have had a mirena iud inserted and I have not had a period in a couple years so I don't know where I'm at in my cycle. I have not had too many flares recently, luckily, but this one has been pretty debilitating. When I was first diagnosed I had this pain and the er doc took a ct scan and it came back that the whole left side and part of my transverse colon was very inflammed, but I also had bleeding and diarrhea with it. Not the case this time, just severe left side pain. and I am very sensitive to narcotics so they are out of the question. does anyone have any suggestions for pain relief?

for the pain (non narcotic /nsaid etc) : warm bath, chammomile tea and or celestial seasons tension tamer tea(relaxes the body), get lots of rest, put a hot water bottle over the spot that hurts.  if you dont have a hot water bottle you can get them in most drugstores for about $10

I use a prescription anti-spasm med (Bentyl) and a heating pad. That left sided pain is horrible isn't it? I have a lot of gut pain, pings and rumbles ugh! I hope you find relief soon.
