imuran dosage question

I think the only way to know if your dosage is too high or too low is to have the prometheus testing done that checks where you are in the theraputic range. If you're well over the range, you will usually become leukopenic over time (even when mine is in the normal range mine seems to reduce). Mine dropped low, like yours, and I stopped 6mp for a while and I got my blood checked every week, eventually my WBC raised to over 4 and my GI put me back on 50mg of 6mp. Eventually the WBC started getting into the low range and I had to half the dose to 25mg. I've been on 25 for quite a while now and, believe it or not, even on this low dose the wbc is dropping again. I am not sure what I will do, I may have to discontinue again for a period of time to let the wbc recover but I am hoping it doesn't drop any lower and I can stay on 25mg. I am not far out of the normal zone yet where I need to worry but if it lowers much more I will be back in your shoes. I know 75mg is a pretty low dose for Imuran. I think you should speak to your GI and see what he thinks. I don't think trying a lower dose is harmful so long as you get your blood checked frequently - that's how I am handling my situation. You could also try taking the medication every other day and see where your wbc stands.
