Stomach (not abdominal) pain?

Do any of you ever get stomach pain? Up higher by the ribs and not in the abdomen. Stomach and abdomen have been very noisy too these days.

I'm trying to figure out if this is just my IBS acting up or if my UC has become unhappy again. I feel like I get pain in my stomach quite a bit, before this last flare my GI always said it was likely the IBS causing cramping and gas. I definitely have gas today too, which I normally have but today its really bad. I have a little pain in the abdomen with the gas but that seems to go away as soon as the gas does!

I've taken Levsin, GasX and some Tums and so far nothing has helped much. I had a 'stomach ache' Saturday too. Although I had a "girlie" martini Friday night so just figured it was from that.

Just curious if anybody else on here gets stomach cramping as opposed to abdominal cramps and if its related to your UC at all?

On a side note, I was having spasms in my rectal area for the past 2 days (sorry TMI - if that's possible on this forum!), and now they have finally went away. Gone with one problem only to start another!

A lot of my pain is in the area just below my ribs. It was confusing for me as well at first but that's just the way it is. The higher the inflammation the higher the pain I guess.
Sometimes I can get a similar pain from indigestion too.
I'm not sure about the IBS part of it.

I had a full blood workup two weeks ago and other than a slightly low white blood cell count and low iron saturation, everything else came back normal.

Maybe I should try Prilosec. I've used it in the past when it seemed like things just were having a hard time digesting.  I don't get heartburn either.  My stomach sure does make alot of noise lately, especially after taking the enema during the day.   I might pick up some Prilosec and try it again, I know it takes a few days to start working.  Maybe it can get my stomach back on track as it just seems a little out of whack right now!

Well, strangely enough over the weekend I decided to stop taking the mesalamine enemas twice a day and just go back to my once a day, nightly dose.  That seemed to completely get rid of the stomach aches and gas!  I've taken them twice a day in the past when I 'thought' I was getting a flare (although was never having any bleeding back then) and never had an issue.   I guess I’ve never tried taking the enema twice a day when I’ve actually had confirmed inflammation in my colon.   Not sure why this would cause an issue but apparently it does for me.   My new GI did say that sometimes the enemas can actually make your symptoms worse, which I didn’t really believe, but perhaps there is something to what he said.   At any rate, I’m not back to very little gas (or at least my ‘normal’ amount) and even back to ‘normal’ BMs! It’s like a miracle I tell ya. And I’m off the Prednisone this Friday, woohoo!   Hope to keep the good streak going right back into remission!
